IMD issues Yellow Warning for Odisha, 11 districts to witness thunderstorm with lightning

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning for several districts of Odisha till tomorrow.

The IMD said that thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Angul, Koraput, Rayagada and Kandhamal till tomorrow.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm are very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha, added the weatherman.

Meanwhile, the Office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) issued the following special advisory to the concerned district collectors:

  • Districts under the yellow warning will have to keep the administrative machinery ready to face any eventuality.
  • Rainfall may be reported immediately to the SRC office.
  • Submit a report on the damage, if occurred due to thunderstorm/ whirlwind, lightning immediately for information of the government.
