Bhubaneswar: IMD Regional Centre here has issued a thunderstorm warning for 16 districts of Odisha today.
As per the latest Nowcast issued by the MeT department, moderate thunderstorm and lightning will occur in districts like Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Khordha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Puri and Rayagada.
Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty wind with speeding reaching 40kmph will also hit these districts during the extreme weather conditions which will prevail from 5pm to 8pm, the bulletin added.
As a precautionary measure, people in the alerted districts have been cautioned against venturing out of their homes and advised to take shelter at safe places to avoid casualty.
