IMD issues thunderstorm, lightning, heavy rain alert for 7 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: The IMD regional centre here has issued a lightning, thunderstorm and heavy rainfall alert for at least seven districts of Odisha till 4.30 PM today.

As per the Nowcast of the centre released this noon, “Latest Doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that light to moderate thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and an intense spell of rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Cuttack and Dhenkanal between 12.30 PM and 4.30 PM.”

In view of the extreme weather conditions people in the alerted districts have been cautioned by the Weatherman against venturing out of their homes and advised to take shelter in safer places to avoid any possible eventuality.
