Bhubaneswar: The IMD Regional Centre here has issued a thunderstorm and lightning alert for at least seven districts of Odisha today.
As per the latest Nowcast of the MeT department, districts like Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj and Nayagarh are likely to experience moderate thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall in one or two places from 11.30 AM to 2.30 PM today.
In a precautionary measure people in these districts have been advised against venturing out their homes and told to take shelter at safe places during the alerted period.
