Bhubaneswar: The IMD Bhubaneswar centre here has issued thunderstorm and lightning alert for at least 16 districts of Odisha till 12.30 PM today.
As per the nowcast issued this morning, those districts which have been alerted are Puri, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Balasore, Khordha, Talcher, Boudh, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Ganjam.
The weatherman has also cautioned people against venturing out of their homes during the onslaught of the thunderstorm and lightning by suggesting them to take shelter in safe places.
The bulletin has also predicted gusty surface wind accompanied by heavy rain for all the districts which have been alerted.
