Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has issued a thunderstorm and lightning alert for at least 13 districts Odisha today.
As per the latest Nowcast of the MeT department, districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Balasore are likely to experience moderate thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm.
In view of the approaching extreme weather conditions, the residents in these districts have been cautioned against venturing out of their homes and advised to take shelter at safe places during the alerted period.
