Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has issued a thunderstorm and lightning alert for at least 12 districts of Odisha today.
As per the latest Nowcast of the MeT Department districts like Bhadrak, Bolangir, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Nabrangapur, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Puri are likely to experience thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall at one or two places from 2pm to 5pm.
As a precautionary measure people in the alerted districts have been cautioned against venturing out of home and advised to take shelter at safe places during the extreme weather conditions.
