IMD issues thunderstorm, hail alert for 22 districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The IMD Regional Centre here has issued thunderstorm and hail warning for at least 22 districts in the state today.

As per a bulletin of the meteorological centre released this morning for at least 17 districts which was later extended to five more districts, the weatherman predicted onslaught of thunderstorm accompanied with heavy wind gusting from 50-60 kmph between 10 am and 2 pm.

“Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph likely to occur over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Nuapara, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Balasore, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Malkangiri between 10.00 AM and 2 PM,” a bulletin of the meteorological centre said.

People have been cautioned against venturing out of home during the adverse weather condition and have been told to take shelter in safe places.
