IMD issues ‘Red Warning’ for 10 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Red Warning (take action) for cyclone ‘Titli’ hit Odisha this morning.

As per the IMD bulletin issued this morning, ‘Titli’ which has turned into a deep depression over Odisha on Friday morning  has moved in the east-northeast direction with a speed of 6 kmph and lay centred about 30 km northeast of Phulbani and 70 km southwest of Angul. The deep depression is most likely to move in the northeast direction towards the Gangetic West Bengal and weaken into a depression during the next 12 hours, it added.

The impending deep depression will bring intense spell of rainfall to districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj.

Squally wind with speed reaching from 45-55 kmph gusting up to 65 kmph is very likely to blow along and off the Odisha coast during the alerted period. The wind speed in the adjoining areas of north interior and south interior Odisha will remain between 35-45 kmph gusting up to 55 kmph, during the next 12 hours, said the Weatherman.

Taking into account the rough weather conditions which will prevail off Odisha coast and North Bay of Bengal during this period fishermen have been cautioned against venturing into sea for fishing and allied activities.
