IMD Issues Heat Wave Alert For 5 Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: Amid the sharp rise in temperature across the state, the regional MeT department has issued a heat wave warning for several districts in Western Odisha.

An IMD release predicted that intense heatwave condition is likely to prevail in Nabarangpur, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur and Bargarh districts till April 30.

On Sunday, as many as 14 places in the state recorded a day temperature above 40 degree Celsius. Talcher became the hottest place in Odisha where the mercury soared to 46.3 degree Celsius.

Closely following Titlagarh were Titlagarh (44.5), Jharsuguda (43.2) and Angul (43.1).

The IMD also forecasted that under the impact of Cyclone Fani, light to moderate rainfall may occur at few places in southern Odisha on May 2.

Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over Koraput, Rayagada, Gajpati and Ganjam districts of Odisha onMay 2. Similarly, coastal Odisha may also experience heavy rainfall on May 2-3.
