Jajpur: In a shocking incident, a woman sustained critical burn injuries after being branded with hot iron spatula by her husband for allegedly having an illicit relationship in Sapagadia village near Padmapur in the district last night.
The injured woman has been identified as Jhuma Raj.
As per the report, a verbal duel erupted between Jhuma and her husband and the accused Rabi Shankar Raj late last night over the former’s talking over phone with a stranger. Rabi, who reprimanded his wife for talking over phone initially, later accused her of cheating on him and thrashed with a stick severely.
The woman turned critical after the accused branded her with hot iron spatula subsequently.
After hearing the screaming of the victim some neighbours of the family rescued her and rushed to Jajpur Road Community Health Centre (CHC) with the help of Kinnar Sangh President Kajal Nayak. She was later shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack for better treatment.
No case has been lodged in the incident so far.
