Dhenkanal: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal hooch traders in the district, Excise officials today seized around 6,500 litres of raw liquor and a huge cache of materials used in preparing them by conducting a raid in Bhuban area.
Acting upon a tip-off at least two Excise Department teams led by Dhenkanal Excise mobile squad carried out raids on illegal liquor manufacturing units which were functioning in Mahulpal, Bentasalia and Kunda villages.
Around 43 drums, 30 polythene and liquor making tools were seized from the spot during the crackdown.
Bhuban Additional Tehsildar, Dhenkanal Sadar Police Station Inspector Samir Mohanty and Kamakhyanagar Excise Inspector Manasi Sahu also took part in the raid.
Similar raids will continue in the district in the coming days to check the hooch trade, say reports.
