Berhampur: Tightening the noose around the necks of the illegal tobacco producers in the ‘Silk City’, Berhampur Police today busted at least three gutka manufacturing units and arrested six persons.
Acting upon a tip-off this morning, a joint team of Bada Bazar and Sadar Police conducted raids at Saguna Sahi, Borigaon and Bhutapalli areas and seized huge cache of gutha along with other items used in manufacturing it.
During the raid cops found that the manufacturing unit operators were producing tobacco without the required license and packing those in duplicate foils of branded companies to send to the market. Later six persons were taken into custody from the spot.
Around 72 bags of gutka have been seized from the spot along with other machineries costing over Rs 4 lakh, informed police.
