Illegal gun manufacturing unit busted in Balasore, 2 arrested

Balasore: A joint team of police and forest department conducted a raid at Hatikhulia village on the outskirts of Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary in Balasore and busted an illegal gun-manufacturing unit last night.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint team conducted a surprise raid at the gun-manufacturing unit and arrested two persons engaged in making firearms.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ranni Singh and Rabindra Singh of the Hatikhulia village, said sources adding that several half-built firearms and materials used in making firearms were seized from the spot.

Police said that the accused used to sell the firearms at a cheaper price mostly to the poachers who allegedly used them for hunting wildlife in the Kuldiha sanctuary.

Meanwhile, Nilagiri police registered a case (68/22) against Ranni and Rabindra and are carrying out further investigation into the matter.
