Bhubaneswar: With Diwali just round the corner, the Commissionerate Police on Saturday raided various illegal cracker units at Balipatna and seized huge quantitiy of crackers. The raid was a part of the drive against sale of illegal firecrackers in the capital city.
The Police said they received an information about illegal firecrackers being produced at various units in Balipatna on the city outskirts. The crackers have been seized after the raid. More such crackdowns on illegal units operating within the city will take place in the future.
Worth mentioning, a couple were killed and one sustained grievous injuries following an explosion, while preparing firecrackers at Balipatna Banamalipur Nuasahi on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The intensity of the blast was so powerful that it blew out most parts of the house.
