New Delhi: In his farewell speech at the Central Hall of the Parliament today, outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee said that he will carry fond memories of his association with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I’ll carry with me the fond memories associated with PM Narendra Modi and remember his warm behaviour towards me,” said President Mukherjee a day before the end of his five year term on July 24.
Recalling his days as a member of the Parliament, Mukherjee said, “Parliament stands for debate, discussion, dissent and disruption hurts opposition more.”
“Ordinance route should only be adopted in compelling circumstances,” he added.
Members of Parliament from both the Houses ,including PM Modi, Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan and Vice-President Hamid Ansari, attended the programme.
The President was presented with a coffee table book and a memento.
