I expect the results to be better than 2014 elections: Naveen Patnaik

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday expected that his party’s results would be better than the last elections.

“I thank the people who have come in large numbers to vote today. I expect the results to be better than the 2014 elections,” said Patnaik while speaking to the newsmen this evening.

As many as 60,03,707 voters, out of which 29,72,925 are male, 30,30,222 female and 560 third gender were slated to vote at 7,233 booths in the first phase election which was held today for Lok Sabha seats (Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Koraput) and 28 assembly constituencies today.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar said that more than 68 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 6 pm.
