Huge stash of medicines found dumped in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Large quantities of medicines were found dumped under a bridge in Gochabari area under Khandapada police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Saturday morning.

It is yet to be ascertained under what circumstances the medicines were discarded and by whom. What has shocked the locals is that most of the dumped medicines are reportedly unexpired.

The villagers alleged that the medicines were being dumped rather than being distributed to needy patients.

Speaking to Kalinga TV, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Nayagarh Sweta Mohapatra said, “It is yet to be ascertained whether the dumped medicines were of government establishments or from private bodies.”

“We will investigate the matter and take appropriate action against those responsible,” he added.
