Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) and Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar today seized a huge quantity of illegal cough syrups and arrested the trader from the Baramunda area of the State Capital City.
On the basis of intelligence input, the STF and Commissionerate Police conducted a raid against illegal possession/transportation of prohibited manufactured drugs and apprehended one person namely Padmalabha Behera of Begunia area.
During the search, 1280 numbers of illegal cough syrup having Codeine phosphate & Chlorpheniramine maleate, one vehicle and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from Padmalabha’s possession.
Sources said that Padmalabha could not produce any document or authority for possession of such prohibited manufactured drugs, for which a case has been registered at Bharatpur Police Station Under Section 274/275/276 IPC r/w. Sec. 2 of Odisha Act 3 of 1999.
Further investigation is on.
