Bhubaneswar: Launching a crackdown on hooch traders in the capital city, police seized huge cache of foreign as well as locally made liquor by busting a liquor den in Laxmisagar area last night.
Acting upon a tip-off on the liquor business which was running discreetly inside two houses near Station Bazaar, a joint team of the Special Squad of the Commissionerate Police and the Laxmisagar Police raided those.
During the raid, the cops came across 617 bottles of foreign liquor and Aska 40 and seized those.
However, the sellers managed to flee from the spot ahead of the raid.
“The seized liquor would cost around Rs 4 lakh. An investigation is underway into the case and the absconding bootleggers would be nabbed soon,” said police.
