Home-guard attacked in Odisha’s Nabarangpur during lock down

Nabarangpur: At a time when police personnel are seen working hard in the field during lock down an unfortunate happening has been reported from Nabarangpur district in Odisha. A home-guard was allegedly attacked in Sanabharandi village under Umerkote police limits of the district on Wednesday night.

Identified as Bankim Mandal the victim is a home-guard placed at Umerkote police station.

As per reports, on Wednesday night when Mandal had been to a shop for fetching rations a few youths attacked him. The reason of the attack has been ascertained as past enmity.

It has been learnt that earlier in the village a few youngsters were playing volleyball. However, as nationwide lock down has been imposed due to coronavirus pandemic Police reached the spot and restrained them from playing. As per reports, Police had also seized the net and volleyball from there. Mandal was also in the Police team during this incident. This is the probable reason behind the attack.

An FIR has been lodged in this connection at Umerkote police station. Investigation is on in this matter.
