Holi tragedy in Odisha: 7 persons drown in different places of the State

Bhubaneswar: Holi tragedy has claimed the lives of 7 persons in different places of Odisha on Saturday. They died after drowning in different water bodies while taking bath after playing Holi today.

In the first incident, two youths drowned while they were taking bath at Jhilighat of Bheden river in Kuchinda of Sambalpur district. The deceased have been identified as Kailash Kumar and Mukesh Yadav of Uttar Pradesh.

In the second such incident, two youths died after drowning in a canal in Kotpad area of Koraput district. The incident t came as a shock for the residents of the area who were busy celebrating the festival of colour today.

One Shatrughan Behera of Keonjhar died after he drowned in the village pond. He was rescued by the local and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. However, the doctor, who attended him, declared him brought dead.

Similarly, another youth died after drowning in the Mahanadi River while one more youth died in Lulung waterfall of Mayurbhanj district.
