Highest ever seizure by Odisha Vigilance: Raids continue on Superintendent Engineer’s properties

Bhubaneswar: The anti-corruption department has unearthed the highest ever cash seizure in the history of Odisha Vigilance during a raid on properties associated with Superintendent Engineer of Rural Works Department Ashish Kumar Dash.

Reportedly, the raids continued for four days at different locations in Malkangiri and Cuttack, and it further continued today as well. The Odisha Vigilance department will be conducting raids on the locker at Axis Bank, Gunupur Branch in Rayagada will be carried out.

The raids were underway at the inventory of locker in Bank of Baroda, Niladri Vihar Branch, in Bhubaneswar was carried out till late evening. During the search, 899 gm gold was recovered and seized and the total gold recovery increased to more than 2.1 kg.

Notably, on Monday, searches were carried out in Dash’s apartment at Shantivan at Belgachia in Trisulia, Cuttack. During the search Rs 1.15 crore in cash, 632 grams of gold ornaments, including gold biscuits and coins were recovered.

The Vigilance further informed that as many as 12 bank accounts in the name of family members, relatives, and associates were detected as of now. The total deposits in these accounts were Rs 2.25 crore. Total deposits in bank accounts, fixed deposits, savings, and insurance policies have been estimated at Rs 4 crore.

Further search is underway and details are awaited.
