Bhubaneswar: A high-profile thief was arrested from Sarala Nagar in Laxmisagar area of the state capital city today. Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were also seized from his possession.
According to reports, the Chandrashekharpur police arrested Sanjay Kumar Nisank (30), a resident of Otri Tala Sahi under Khorda police limits.
Based on a complaint lodged by one Swapnajit Mukherji, the city police swung into action and traced Nisank’s location through phone tapping and nabbed him successfully.
After arresting Sanjay, police seized valuables worth lakhs of rupees from his possession which included 778 grams gold and 796 grams silver ornaments, Rs 39,504 cash, 43 mobiles phones, 29 watches, six laptops, a bike, LED TVs and tablets.
Briefing about Sanjay’s arrest Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu said, “A case has been registered at the Chandrasekharpur police station and further investigation is on into the incident,” adding “The accused is involved in a series of burglary cases in several areas including Chandrasekharpur and Infocity area.”
