Bhubaneswar: A high drama prevailed at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here this afternoon as two lovebirds were picked up by police in the presence of their family members.
A girl from Odisha was reportedly studying medical in Bengaluru. During this time she came across a boy from Punjab. As days passed the duo developed a good relationship between them which later turned into love. During the course of time, they informed about their love affairs to their respective family members.
They landed in Bhubaneswar today. However, by the time they reached the airport, their family members had already arrived at the spot.
Protesting their relationship, the girl’s father alleged that the youth who has been identified as Gagandeep Singh Kaur had earlier looted Rs 2 lakh from the girl’s account. He also had filed a complaint in this regard at Khandagiri Police Station.
On the other hand, the family members of Gagandeep Singh stated that they reached the airport as they were informed by their son and they are ready to accept the girl as his wife.
Meanwhile, on being informed about the incident, a team of cops from the Airport Police Station rushed to the airport and rescued the lovers and took them to the police station. They also called their family members to solve the problem mutually.
