New Delhi: Former Lok Sabha MP Hema Gamang, wife of Ex-chief minister of Odisha and BJP leader Giridhar Gamang, is likely to join Congress before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Gamang was on Tuesday seen at the AICC headquarters here meeting with several senior party leaders.

However, her son Sisir Gamang told Kalinga TV that he and his father will stay in BJP and will not return to the grand old party.

Hema Gamang was originally in the Congress and had been the Congress MP from Koraput in 1999 and MLA from Gunpur constituency in 2004 . She resigned from the grand old party in 2014 and unsuccessfully contested from the Laxmipur Assembly constituency on a BJD ticket.

In April last year, Hema Gamang resigned from the BJD alleging that the ruling party of the State had ignored her on several issues.

Meanwhile, OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik described Gamang’s likely return to the Congress as a ‘homecoming’.
