Heavy rains in Odisha: Schools, colleges to remain closed in Cuttack today

Cuttack: The Cuttack District administration on Thursday declared closure of all schools and colleges both government and private in the millennium city for a day in view of incessant rain.

Normal life was thrown out of gear in many parts of Odisha today following heavy rain due to a cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal off Odisha Coast.

Most part of northern and coastal Odisha including the State capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack are reeling under water-logging which has disrupted vehicular movement.

Water level in major rivers in the state was also rising , officials said.

Bhubaneswar Met office in a release said heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers will continue to occur at as many as 11 districts of the State during next 24 hours.

Sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, the Met office in a release said.
