Heavy rainfall warning in Odisha: SRC directs collectors to stay alert

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena has directed the district collectors to stay alert in view of the heavy rainfall warning issued by the weather department and take precautionary measures.

Jena in a letter to the collectors of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts to take steps to be to circulate the warning message among the public regarding the heavy rainfall warning issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The SRC asked the collectors to closely monitor the situation and take necessary action in case of any eventuality.

The weatherman has issued a Yellow warning saying heavy rainfall is to occur in the above-mentioned districts in the next 48 hours.

The IMD said that a fresh Low Pressure area is likely to form over south Andaman Sea and the neighbourhood by November 13 and is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on November 15.
