Heavy rain to continue in Odisha for next 2 days, yellow alert issued

Bhubaneswar:  Heavy rainfall lashed many parts of Odisha  in last 24 hours due to formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar on Monday said that heavy rain will continue over several districts in the state for next two days.

The Met Center issued yellow warning of heavy rainfall over 13 districts for next 24 hours.

“Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada,
Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh,
Sambalpur, Sonepur till 8.30 AM of 6th October,” said the latest bulletin.

The weathermen also issued yellow weather alert for several districts for the next day.

“Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nawarangpur,Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak from 8.30 AM of October 6 to 8.30 AM of October 7,” the bulletin added.

A fresh low pressure area is very likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining East-central Bay of
Bengal around October 9, the Met Dept said.
