Heatwave intensifies in Odisha; six places recorded above 45 degree Celsius

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to reel under an intense heat wave as six places recorded temperature above 45 degree Celsius on Wednesday.

Sambalpur became the hottest place in the state with the mercury touching 45.6 degree Celsius followed by Talcher 45.3 degree Celsius, Hirakud 45.2 degree Celsius, Sonepur 45.2 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda 45 degree Celsius, Titlagarh 45 degree Celsius.

Besides, as many as places of the state recorded above 40 degree Celsius. They include Sundergarh 44.5 degree Celsius, Angul 43.9 degree Celsius, Malkangiri 42.6 degree Celsius, Bolangir 42.5 degree Celsius, Bhawanipatna 41.8 degree Celsius, Keonjhar 40.9 degree Celsius, and Chandbali 40.8 degree Celsius.

The Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also witnessed severe heatwave conditions today. While the Capital city recorded 42.5 degree Celsius, the Millennium City recorded 40.5 degree Celsius.

Earlier in the day, the Met Dept warned elderly people, children, and persons with chronic diseases to avoid heat exposure.
