Heat wave cripples normal life in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Normal life has been affected in various places of Odisha due to the prevailing intense heat wave conditions. People find difficult to get exposed to direct sunlight after 9 AM.

According to the Met department, as many as 11 places in the state recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius on Monday.

Sonepur recorded 44.8 degree Celsius, the highest temperature in the state today. While Sambalpur sizzled at 44.7 degree Celsius, Titlagarh recorded 44.6 degree Celsius, Talcher 44.3 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda 44 degree Celsius, Balangir 43.7 degree Celsius, Hirakud 43.6 degree Celsius, Malkangir 43.2 degree Celsius, Bhawanipatna 43 degree Celsius.

Similarly, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperature of 38.2 degree Celsius and 37.8 degree Celsius respectively.

The weather department warned that the similar conditions will continue till the 31st of this month.

However, few places in South Odisha experienced moderate rain this evening.
