Hearing In Orissa High Court Today On Anjana Mishra Gang Rape

Cuttack: The much talked about Barang gang rape case of 1999 (Anjana Mishra gangrape case) shall be heard by the Orissa High Court today.

The prime accused, Biban Biswal had been arrested on February 22 by the Twin City Comissionerate Police.

The accused had been arrested from Pune in Maharashtra said the CP. Biban had changed his name to Jalandhar Swain and was working as a plumber at Aamby Vally in Pune, Maharashtra.

An operation called- ‘Silent Viper’ had been launched to nab Biswal.

The incident had been much talked about in Odisha. It had affected and created a turmoil in the political scenario of the State.

After the arrest Anjna Mishra, the victim had called for a press conference and thanked Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Odisha police for arresting Biban.

While speaking to the media persons, Anjana narrated her ordeal which she had undergone for the last 22 years.

“During my fight for justice, often my house and I were attacked by the miscreants. Stones were pelted at me and my houses. Members of a particular political party targeted me for filing the rape case. I was threatened to keep quiet and stay at home. A lady worker of Congress party, whose husband is working in the Indian army, had conspired to kill me,” she alleged.

“However, I was not scared though faced lots of hardships,” she added.

“As the main accused has been arrested now, the CBI now can find out who had conspired the rape crime,” Anjana hoped.
