Bhadrak: Headmaster of Binayakpur Primary School in Basudebpur area of the district was on Tuesday suspended by the Block Education Officer (BEO) following the death of a student of the school due to wall collapse.
The suspended Headmaster has been identified as Sarat Kumar Barik.
According to reports, one Manasi Mallick, a fifth standard student of the school, died and four other boys were injured seriously when the wall of a house, situated near to the school, collapsed on them.
All the injured are undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). They are said to be critical.
The incident took place while the students were plucking berries from a tree during the play period.
Meanwhile, the local police have started an investigation into the incident by sending Manasi’s body to the DHH for postmortem.
A pall of gloom descended on the village following the tragic incident.
