Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday granted conditional bail to former BJD MLA Subarna Nayak from Keonjhar in the multi-crore Nabadiganta chit fund case. Nayak was granted bail against a surety bond of Rs 2 lakh and two bailers.
Briefing the media about Nayak’s bail, his counsel P K Ray said the court has prohibited him from moving out of the State and also told him to cooperate with the probe.
Notably, the Naba Diganta Capital Services Ltd allegedly set up by BJD MP from Mayurbhanj Ramachandra Hansda, ex-BJD MLA from Keonjhar Subarna Nayak and former Nuapada MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Hitesh Bagarti had collected around Rs 15 crores from gullible investors through its various schemes till it came under the CBI’s scanner in 2013. The trio was arrested on November 4, 2014 by the investigation agency.
