Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested Pradyumna Parida in connection with the brutal murder of lady pharmacist Hasina Das in Kanan Vihar area of Bhubaneswar on September 25.
“Pradyumna Parida from Mayurbhanj district and pharmacist Hasina Das from Ersama block in Jagatsinghpur were in relationship. However, Parida killed her as she denied his marriage proposal,” informed Twin City Police Commissioner Y.B Khurania at a press meet today.
“According to the postmortem report, the 19-yr-old pharmacist of Apollo Diagnostic Centre died of suffocation. There were number of slitting marks on her neck,” added Khurania.
The Police Commissioner further said that on the day of murder on September 25, the accused called on her number several times, but the victim did not pick up. So, he had gone to her residence in Kanan Vihar, Chandrasekharpur where he attacked her with a kitchen knife after a heated argument. He also used a pillow to suffocate her.
The accused has been arrested by the police and will be forwarded to the court later in the day.
