Malkangiri: A hardcore maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with the security personnel near Odisha border Dantewada in Chhatisgarh.
The deceased maoist has been identified as Muya Markam, a member of Katekalyan area committee. Muya carried a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head.
According to sources, the State Task Force(STF) and DRG conducted a joint anti-maoist operation at Chikpali jungle on the border of Odisha and Chhatisgarh when the maoist group opened fire at the police. In retaliation, the police also opened fire, killing Muya Markam on the spot.
During the search, a huge cache of explosives were recovered from the spot, informed Dantewada SP.
The search is still on to nab other ultras who fled from the scene.
