Malkangiri: In a major breakthrough, the top-ranking Maoist leader Hidma Muchaki was killed in an encounter between the security forces and the naxals in jungles between Chikpal and Marjum.
A Maoist leader carrying a reward of ₹5 lakh and wanted in many cases of violence were killed.
The encounter took place in the early hours in between the jungles of Chikpal and Marjum villages.
“A team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Chhattisgarh Armed Force went on an anti-naxal operation on Tuesday and when we were informed about a Maoist dump and gathering, we cordoned off the area and in the early hours the encounter began. After 45 minutes of firing, we recovered the body of Hidma Muchaki, who was an active member of Katekalyan Area committee of CPI (Maoist ),” said Dantewada SP Abhishek Pallav
One 9 mm pistol recovered from him.
The police have intensified their search operation in the region.
