Nuapada: People were left in a state of panic in Ranipur village near Khadiala town in the district on Saturday after a man’s half-burnt body was found from a nearby forest under suspicious circumstances.
Some locals who visited the Bundia forest located at a distance of 2 kilometres from the Khadiala town in some work in the morning first spotted the body. The body was found with 70 percent burn injury and was still on fire. A helmet was also seen on the head of the carcass. They immediately called up Kahadiala Police and reported the matter.
Police reached the spot and seized the body after dousing the fire. An investigation is underway with the help of scientific squad.
While the deceased could not have been identified yet, police suspect it a case of murder.
