Half Burnt Body Of Girl Found In Puri: Six Family Members Arrested
Puri: In a major breakthrough, Chandanpur police in Odisha’s Puri district arrested six family members of the 18-year-old girl whose body was recovered from the riverbank in Talajangha village yesterday.
Informing about the development, Puri Sadar SDPO Kishore Kumar Mund said that they were arrested for their involvement in the case. The six accused persons include the brother, three uncles and two cousins of the deceased girl who was identified as Bharati Jena.
Bones of the girl have been seized and sent for forensic examination and further investigation is underway, the SDPO added.
The half-burnt body of Bharati was found from near the river banks. She was reportedly involved in a love affair with a youth of the same village. Besides, she had eloped with youth one month back.
Later, Bharati’s family members had lodged a complaint in this connection and brought her back home. However, she was found dead and her body was burnt near the riverbank yesterday.
It is yet to be known under what circumstances the girl died.
