Bhubaneswar: The Health Department of Odisha government has appointed Gyanapratap Singh as the Head of the Department (HoD) of Urology department at SCB Medical College and Hospital here following Orissa High Court orders.
Singh will replace Prof. Dutteswar Hota against whom students of the Urology department had filed a petition seeking his removal.
In the petition, the junior medicos had alleged that Hota threatened them to disqualify in their exams if they disobeyed him to work at his private clinic.
Hearing the petition, earlier on Wednesday, the Court had directed the state government to remove Hota from the post and appoint a new HoD within 10 days.
The Court had also asked the government to take necessary action to keep Hota away from furnishing any exam duty.
