Gujarat Assembly Polls to be held on Dec 9 & 14

The Chief Election CommissionerNew Delhi: Gujarat will go to polls in two phases on December 9th and 14th for 182 assembly segments, announced Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Joti on Wednesday.

89 seats will go to polls in the first phase, while the rest 93 will vote in the second phase.

The Chief Election Commissioner said, a total of 4.33 crore electorates would exercise their right at 50128 polling stations. EVMs with VVPAT will be used at all polling stations, he added.

Notification for the first phase will be issued on 14th of November while 20th November will be the date of notification for the second phase. Counting will be held on 18th December along with Himachal Pradesh, which goes to poll on 9th of next month, he said.

Significantly, as many as 182 polling stations will be managed by women only.

The term of the Gujarat Assembly ends on 22nd January next year. Model code of conduct has come into force with immediate effect.
