Guidelines issued for celebration of Chhat puja rituals in Bhubaneswar: Check details

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday issued guidelines regarding celebration of rituals during the upcoming Chhat puja in the wake of Covid 19 pandemic.

BMC issued an order today regarding this that says: In view of restrictions imposed by Government on large religious congregation to ensure public safety in apprehension of spread of the Covid 19 virus due to congregation of large number of citizens on the occasion of ‘Chhat Puja’ at the banks of different water bodies, the said ritual celebration has been prohibited to be held in any public location within the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation for this year.

Chhat puja is observed mainly by the people of Bihari community while the rituals of the festival are widely observed in Bhubaneswar. The main ritual of this festival includes mass bathing and offering puja to the Sun God at river banks and ghats early in the morning. Chhat puja will be observed on 10 November this year.
