GRP Busts Gang Of Interstate Dacoits in Rourkela, Four arrested

Rourkela: The Government Railway Police (GRP), Rourkela today busted a gang of interstate dacoits and arrested four members of the gang. Police said that that all the accused belonged to Munger in Bihar.

The gang members were nabbed from Kalunga station while they were planning to commit dacoity on Tatanagar-Bilaspur passenger train.

“The accused were part of a 25 member gang from Bihar involved in a number of dacoity cases on running trains in Odisha and Bihar as well. The mastermind of the gang Chandal Mandal managed to escape. The gang members were staying at a rented accommodation at Rourkela,’ said a GRP official.

Police have also seized sharp-edged weapons and other materials used for cutting of baggage. “The gang members target air-conditioned coaches of trains to loot valuables from passengers. We are further verifying their antecedents,” added the police official.
