Cuttack: At least five persons sustained injuries in a group clash which erupted between residents of two villages under Pahala police limits over electric pole installation here last night.
As per the report, a dispute occurred between two separate groups of Janmejoyapur and Khunukar villages in the evening as both demanded restoration of power supply to their areas first. The dispute escalated into a scuffle by the night and members of both the sides attacked each other with cudgels, iron rod and stones.
Some women and children also sustained injuries during the clash which continued till late in the night.
Police forces from Pahala outpost and Balianta rushed to the spot after getting information on the incident but failed to contain the violence.
Later, ACP Amarendra Panda dispersed the mob after reaching the spot with additional forces.
While police force has been deployed in both the villages, palpable tension still prevails in the area.
