Talcher: Tension ran high in Talcher town last night as residents of two villages clashed over passing of lewd comments during immersion procession of Lord Kartikeshwar.
As per the report, separate groups from Patana Sahi and Bhairav Sahi indulged in a heated exchange of words soon after some youths from one of the village gave distasteful remarks to the participants of the procession as well as passed lewd comments to women.
As the verbal duel between the two sides escalated further a group of miscreants pelted stones at shops located in the market area and attacked a few vehicles.
Talcher Police rushed to the spot and had a discussion with both sides two pacify them.
Later, two platoons of police force were deployed in the area to maintain law and order in view of the palpable tension prevailing in the area.
