Jharsuguda: In yet another unfortunate incident, a groom-to-be and his parents were killed after the motorcycle they were traveling on was mowed down by a coal-laden truck on NH-49 near Pipilimal area in Jharsuguda this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Bisikesan Kalo (55), his wife Tapaswini Kalo (50) and son Satyanarayan Kalo (25). They hailed from Kudaloi village in Jharsuguda district.
According to reports, the trio was returning home from the market after Satya Narayan’s wedding shopping when the speeding truck ran over them from behind, resulting in their immediate death.
The driver of the truck fled the scene after the accident and is still absconding.
Post the incident, angry locals blocked the NH-49 demanding adequate compensation for the family of the deceased.
Meanwhile, Police reached the spot after intimation and seized the truck. A probe has been initiated into the incident.
