Grey wolf dies in Nandankanan

Bhubaneswar: In yet another loss of inmates to the Nandankanan Zoological Park here, a grey wolf died due to sickness today.

The wolf which died today was a part of a pair of wolves which had been brought from Mysore of Karnataka last year.

Notably, a pair of grey wolves had been added to the list of animals at Nandankanan on September 29, 2018. The pair had been brought from Mysore Zoon under animal exchange program against a pair of mouse deer.

At the time of their inclusion, both the wolves were aged around two and half years.

The grey wolf is considered as an endangered species. It is a canine native to the wilderness and remote areas of Eurasia and North America. The wolf is one of the world’s most-researched animals in books than any other wildlife species

The Grey Wolves are highly social animals that live in family groups called packs and well known for their unique hunting strategy.
