Govt to provide 3000 jobs to Kashmir valley migrants: HM

Rajnath SinghJammu: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said the Centre had decided to provide 3000 jobs to migrants from Kashmir valley and revealed that Rs 1080 crores had already been sanctioned to the Jammu and Kashmir Government in this regard.

Singh, who is on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, addressed a press conference in Jammu today.

Commenting on the Centre’s approach to migrants, the Home minister said, “The Government has adopted a humane approach towards migrants and displaced people. But we are strongly against illegal immigration.”

Highlighting other initiatives taken by the Centre, the Minister said that the Government had also allocated a package of Rs 2000 crores for the rehabilitation of migrants from the Kashmir valley. The disbursal had been linked to Aadhar, he added.

Singh also stated that the Government had also decided to construct Transit Accommodation for 6000 in the Kashmir valley.

About ceasefire violations by Pakistan, the Minister stated security forces are giving a befitting reply to ceasefire violations. Pakistan will have to stop these violations sooner or later, he asserted.

Praising the contribution made by the people living in border areas, Singh said, “People living in border areas are our strategic assets. We cannot forget the contribution made by these people”.

“The government has increased the compensation for those who get killed in ceasefire violations from Rs 1 lakh to 5 lakh,” he added. “We have decided to constitute an expert group to study the problems faced by the people living in border areas.”

During his visit, the Home Minister today met various delegations, including leaders of political parties, ‘Panun Kashmir’, Gujjar Bakarwal community and others.
