Government School Teacher Constructs School Gate Using Her Salary

Chandbali: Leaking ceiling, broken walls, lack of electricity and wrecked furniture is a common sight in government schools, especially in rural areas. It is heart-breaking to see the appalling condition of schools.

Although there are a lot of challenges, there are some students and teachers who make it to the school no matter what. Here is one such example of a passionate headmistress Ramamani Behera.

Ramamani, the headmistress (HM) of Bhatapada Government Primary School in Tihidi Block of Bhadrak district, took upon on herself to construct a school gate to provide a better learning environment to the students.

Due to lack of a proper gate, anti-socials and stray animals used to enter the school. So, the headmistress invested money of about 1 lakh from her own pocket and installed the gate for the safety and security of the students.

People praised her dedication for her work beyond teaching. The school gate was today inaugurated by the block education officer who heaped praises on Ramamani and said she was an inspiration for other teachers.

After the makeover, the school now has a safe environment and it is because of teachers like Ramamani that students can safely build their career.
