Goods train derails in Ganjam, no casualties reported

Berhampur: In yet another train derailment incident in the state, a freight carrier derailed between Berhampur and Golanthara railway stations in Ganjam district on Friday.

At least two bogies of the train which was travelling from Khurda Road Station to Visakhapatnam for repairing work skidded off the track and derailed this morning. Though no casualties were reported in the mishap the track got damaged due to the incident.

Getting information on the incident, Railway engineers rushed to the spot and tried to put the train back on track. They were also launched technical efforts to repair the track to restore the rail traffic on the root.

While Puri-Palasa, Bhubaneswar-Berhampur passenger trains got cancelled after the derailment, arrangements are on for the running of several other trains which remain stranded at nearby stations, says reports.
